Blade, do you know if Robbie made those flares himself? I saw they look like they are in progress in one of those photos, Thanks for those, Steve

Looks like he made them or they were the Midwest 4WD flares. Tell Robbie thanks. Keep the pics coming.

What a shame this truck doesn't exist anymore. I know some of the parts went on I believe Southern Nightmare, a red Ford Stepside. Is that truck still around or is that truck gone, too?

Really? Adam I had no idea. I always thought that Pac Man and Super Freak looked a lot a like and they are kinda from the same area right? Anyone know if there is a link between Pac Man and Super Freak? I am pretty sure Super Freak is still around.

I saw it on here that parts were pulled from Pac Man and the rest went to a junkyard; I don't remember where on here but it was DEFINITELY here on Mayhem.

I've heard Adam's story as well, that Pacman was scavenged for parts and then junked. Blade, do you know anything about that?

This is Super Freak

2772

I can see the similarties, It's possible they used the body and frame.

This is the aformentioned Southern Nightmare, but if i remember correctly Pacman and Southern Nightmare were running at the same time.

Front spring hangers are completely different. Super Freak frame looks straight rail in that picture (hard to tell). Pac Man's is a stock based frame. Pac Man's wheel wells are cut bigger with bigger flares. That body could be Pac Man's with new fenders and quarters. Looks like a different frame though.

The more I see Bronco/Blazer/Ramcharger/Trailduster/Jimmy monsters (ones that aren't too tall ie. Pac Man, Mad Dog II, Terra Duster, Michigan Ice Monster Jr. etc.) the more I like them.

I'm back, sorry I havent been on sooner. The fender flares on Pac man came from Bob Chandler, Robbie owned 2 truck's, and no pacman was not parted out to build Southern nitemare. . Those two truck's did show's together. Super freak and Pacman are two different truck's. I'll post more pic's soon.

this may be a dumb question but im going to ask it anyway. why did robbie junk this truck and build southern storm?

blade
February 15th, 2010, 01:24 PM
There are no dum questions, Robbie wanted to build the FIRST EVER flip up bodied twin engine monster truck, and that's what he did.

I don't remember which video but i remember seeing this on one of the shows from the 1980s that Mistertbones uploaded a while ago, they were showing off some trucks and one of the was Pac-Man. I also have a clip of this truck in i think my Monster Truck'n Back in the Day Part 2 video and if not Part 3.

My dad said that Robbie is using the tires to keep the truck from sinking. that a really deep deep pond they said. so he is usin the tires like a paddle boat which is really cool. i wish i couldve lived back in their days but also having them as my dad and uncle is really cool also cause they know how to fix anything

I've got a Pac-Man memory to share, Sometime in the mid to late 80's, I had supper with my folks at a Red Lobster in Nashville off I-40. When we came out to leave, over in an ajoining lot was Pac-Man on the hauler. At the time, I'd only seen one other MT, so I thought it was pretty cool, it also showed me how monster truck were transported.

Well, it looks like a four-door, which is a lot less desirable. Who knows, the frame and suspension might have been rusted through. They built like 700,000 of those things.

Yes, that '57 appears to be a 4 door post car, too. however, it still had parts on it that would be very desirable today. Actually, looking back at the vintage pics I have noticed a lot of cars that would be sacrilegious to crush today. One that sticks out in my mind was a '69 Charger...

Continuing on this tangent, it has been common for hobbyists and professionals in the last few years to convert 4 door sedans and hardtops to 2 door sedans and hardtops, with relative ease. Quadraports aren't as throw-away as they used to be.

Well, that's kinda neat. Probably helped by the fact that people don't spit on clones like they used to.
