I see that Pezo actually got around to restoring it and re debuted it @ the Silverdome tonite, thats awesome in its own right, but Im gonna put this out there, I would love to see some pictures of the rebuild

April 17th, 2010, 07:44 PM
i'll second that. i'd also like to hear some info on it, like what exactly was used from the original and what is new? the chassis doesn't look the same as the old yellow one, but its a small picture so I could be wrong. This is epic for sure, no matter how it was done. which predator was this? the black framed one or the yellow one?

April 17th, 2010, 09:09 PM
Shawn - I believe both were yellow at some point - the video "Awesome Monster Trucks" shows both trucks lined up together, both with yellow chassis.

April 17th, 2010, 09:30 PM
you are correct Matt, they were both yellow at one point.

lets take a walk down history road shall we?

-I like how the headers on the snub-nozed one, don't line-up, intentionally, as it's alien technology, etc.

From the Dome 4-17-10. Looking real good she was.

April 18th, 2010, 01:08 AM
Now, that's one beautifully restored truck! Thanks for the picture!

I was lucky enough to see it throughout the rebuild and man was/is it awsome.

April 18th, 2010, 09:25 AM
I wonder . . . . where them rims came from. First Lone Eagle ? ? ? ?

April 18th, 2010, 09:30 AM
I figured this was going to happen but finally see it happen and see it in person was awesome!!! To me this was one of the biggest highlights of the night. Seeing Pezo come out and do a car crush with it was awesome!!! I will post some pics later today of it.

Mikey I am guessing that those Midwest aluminum wheels that are on the truck are indeed the original ones from Lone Eagle. However I had heard that Pezo sold them along time ago but maybe that wasn't the case. I am just so pleased to see another old skool truck come out of the woodwork.

April 18th, 2010, 09:32 AM
me too - now only if we could Dehil to transform the gaint back . . . . into . . . . .

Hey, if we get enough old 80s trucks we could do a tour of 80s Vs. Today kinda show. LOL

April 18th, 2010, 10:11 AM
massive machine usa1 predator help me outhere guys

April 18th, 2010, 11:01 AM
That would be kool. This new Silver Dome ownership should do two shows a year now, and to get more fans back there a show with a nostalgia twist would be way kool. Get some of these original trucks and tanks. The only problem I see is them wanting to put on a show with them beyond just driving around. It would be kool to see a sled pull, and a car crush, but I don’t think any of them would race there trucks. Leave that for the tanks and the modern trucks. If they really wanted to do it up, get sum original stage 1s, sum stage 2s, and sum stage threes, with the tanks ripping the place apart at the end. :p

Predator looked great I just wish they would have had it on the floor for the pit party. :Sad no: ( I suppose they were worried out having to wipe of all the drool after the show. :Tongue out:

April 18th, 2010, 11:14 AM
Gotta give props to Pezo.... did an excellent job. Now if he would only crush a few cars for nostalgia sake!

April 18th, 2010, 11:47 AM
Gotta give props to Pezo.... did an excellent job. Now if he would only crush a few cars for nostalgia sake!

He did do a lap of the stadium and ran over the cars on both sides. To me it was the highlight of last night!!!

April 18th, 2010, 04:44 PM
The truck does look great from the pictures I have seen so far. I'm glad that Allen was able to finish the restoration of the truck in time for the show.

April 18th, 2010, 04:57 PM
I think it'd be pretty simple to do something like this today in conjunction with today's events:

YouTube- USHRA Minneapolis 1987 Part Six

April 18th, 2010, 06:09 PM
those are Allens old wheels and 2 original tires (the other 2 are my old front tires).
On a second note I just got off the phone with Allen and you guys made his night /weekend/year when you thanked him while in the autograph signing ---in fact he said and I quote "this is the most fun I have had in probably 20 years" .

April 18th, 2010, 06:13 PM
Because of that I will send him an e-mail right now because for me it was way kool also.

April 18th, 2010, 07:11 PM

Predator 1 looks incredible! AND crushing cars?!!? It's still got the show and go! Great work by everyone involved!

April 18th, 2010, 09:07 PM
Here are some pics of Predator I shot last night.

Can you say, "1988 all over again!!"

April 18th, 2010, 09:25 PM
Minor technical difficultys kept Predator1 from the pit party, worried that it might not make it into the dome, I went back to the pits to get some up close and personal shots! Truck looked great, and should be a staple for all other restored trucks! Enjoy:)

What is original on this truck ? Is it the original frame or body, did some lucky truck get snagged out of the Autotrader and made into a monster ?

April 18th, 2010, 10:37 PM
Thats unreal... it looks immaculate. The paint is bold, the logo has that awesome reflective look. Just awesome.
I just wish some others were kept up like this, not left sitting in a field to rust away like a certain black and green truck.
Big props to Pezo, he doesn't forget his roots.

April 18th, 2010, 10:53 PM
All I can say is wow. I think this is a good direction for Pezo and hopefully a few others follow suit. This gives the younger fans a chance to see where todays roots come from. I love ol' skool thats what made me a fan and I still love it today. Now if we could just get a sled out there to pull with it too. and maybe a mud pit too. lol Yeah I know that would be alot of cleanin on such a nice truck. lol

April 19th, 2010, 01:40 AM
man i agree.with you.the younger fans need to pay more attenion to were the root of the sport come from.all we need to have one of the old bigfoots.and everything.actually i am crying because how beautifull the truck looks.just need another old school truck out there.make it a old school race.maybe the young fans would like it.watch wat it was like yesteryear.yall get wat i'm saying.

April 19th, 2010, 07:34 AM
what an advancement over the years.

April 19th, 2010, 12:15 PM
that is so awesome that he did that... I remember watching some video when i was a kid, that truck was in it, it was filmed at night master of disiaster was in it and the twister ford, i cant remember the name. But anyway that is really cool I love the full interior and him hanging his head out the window during the car crush.

that would be YouTube- Secrets Of Monster Trucks Part 1

that video has both Predator Leaf trucks in it.

April 19th, 2010, 01:58 PM
Can't wait to see what the onboard from TMB tv will look like. Old skool is always cool in my book.

April 19th, 2010, 02:21 PM
If I had to guess this is the first frame, although it was still modified since back in the day. Seeing those pictures just makes me wanna redo my Predator model to this newer version. Definatly awesome!

April 19th, 2010, 05:37 PM
hahaha yess thats it thanks Paul.

when is that tmb tv comin out?

April 19th, 2010, 05:46 PM

Have you ever been involved in an earthquake...while jumping on a trampoline? Kinda like that...

April 19th, 2010, 09:10 PM
here is the video of the original predator i took. not the best video but its all i got. YouTube- pontiac silverdome 029

April 19th, 2010, 09:20 PM
That is great footage. Man that was a great site to see!!!

April 19th, 2010, 09:33 PM
just think if it was 1988 everyone would be standing screaming for that, like they do today when meents makes a crazy save.

I was born in 88 but I still really enjoy seeing the eveloution of this sport.

April 20th, 2010, 12:49 PM
I DEFINATELY have much more appreciation and respect for the guys who launched the old leafers of yesteryear. Allen gave a taste of what it was like to hit cars and, I'll be honest, It felt like we had gotten WAY more air than we did haha! Be looking for the on-board footage; It's definately a wild, inside perspective!

April 20th, 2010, 12:58 PM
So I take it you were the lucky s.o.b. who got to ride shotgun!!! That had to be an out of this world experience!! Just sitting up in the seats watching it looked awesome, I couldn't imagine being inside it. Too cool!!! Looking forward to seeing the footage.

April 28th, 2010, 02:17 PM
Just got an email from Brian Shell (Showtime) turns out Brian was the one who painted the original Predator truck for Allen. Brian is still in the body shop business, too bad he wasn't the one who painted the restored version, that would have been cool. Anyway, we can get this thread moved to the old skool section? Thanks.

April 28th, 2010, 02:34 PM
I am shocked of how great the truck turned out. The frame and suspension look fantastic and to see an old school body with an old school paint job on top of it just takes you back in time. You gotta love the way he is sticking his head out the left window as he is crushing the cars, that topped it off.

April 28th, 2010, 02:44 PM
I couldn't get the video to load. I finally did, that was spectacular to watch!!!!!!

You should have took a ride in the jeeps! Now you know why I walk like an old man half the time.
