View Full Version : Monster Truck Legos?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a Monster Truck lego set? I remember seeing a monster truck made of legos but can't remember where it was; if it was on this site in a pic or if I saw it at a fair somewhere at one of those school; art booths. But, I definitely saw a monster truck made of legos somewhere?! unless i am totally losing my mind, which i could be

Anyway, i went to the lego home site and looked around there; but all they have is a truck that's not quite a monster truck but more of an off roader.
My son just turned 12 but has been getting into lego models, he likes to create things; sometimes he follows the directions; sometimes he makes his own creations. But it's hard to find a lego set that has all the pieces and parts that could build a monster truck to make it look realistic; i mean if he wanted to make a model of a certain truck. Lego's have a big rig tow truck (part of their Lego Technic section) and that's looks really cool; w/realistic looking & working engine parts (cylinder lifts, spinning radiator fan, rear stabilizers, etc) & you can add a working motor in it, too.

Of course, like anything else, certain legos are not cheap; but at least it keeps his imagination going, & keeps him out of trouble. For his birthday, which was today, I got him the lego city harbor set & he spent about 4 hrs putting it altogether; taking it apart; creating what he could on his own; & then setting it as it was pictured. I'm sure he'll take it apart a gazillion X's & redo it; & use his brother's set as well (twin boys; so my other son wanted a lego set not quite as difficult).

But, anyway, I definitely saw a monster truck lego somewhere; just don't know where & I think it would be a cool gift for X-mas. He's into models; but i guess w/the legos he can make his own thing. so if someone can help, i'd appreciate it.

thanks

Here's a Custom made bigfoot 1

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=252857

And the same guy made a really awesome Bigfoot 9

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=278127

Too bad there are no instructions.

And if I can figure out LegoCAD I'd be able to attempt to replicate it with instructions that I could post.

We had a thread like this a lil while back and I got a big kick out of seeing everyone explain their trucks they had built.

Brickshelf has some awesome stuff, some of those buildings and such people build are just amazing.

Thanks for posting that link..

Thanks, pal!! :(

That Digger is awesome looking. Right down to the Anderson figure lol. I had to double take the crew guy figure I thought he had a beard like Roy Hooiser for a minute.

Wouldn't mind seeing LN and the Lego people sign up a contract and have kits avalible of certain trucks.

Yeah Dave, Monster Jam Legos would be kinda cool I do agree.

That Digger is impressive! He made creative use of some very uncommon pieces. More info with more pre-sticker pics is here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=285268

I personally think an LN/Lego toy deal would be awesome. Simpler trucks for the kiddies, and one huge 1/10th scale Digger XX Technic set for the rest of us. I'd buy that as soon as I knew it existed!

WOW!Thanks for the website info. I'm gonna sign in and check it out. But, it looks like you have to buy everything separately; i'm not sure though! But I think the idea of LN & Legos coming up w/a toy product would be an excellent thing. Who's gonna email LN with this idea and maybe become a millionaire....you never know.....comapnies are always looking for new ideas!

Anyway, thanks for the help.....if you guys find anything else, plse let me know.

well, just went to the "brickshelf.com" site & was totally confused. I told you guys that i wasn't a computer whiz; & I don't think i was navigating the site the right way. It lists all kinds of lego themes; part #'s, dates of lego sets, individual pieces; and mostly pictures. I can't even tell if this is a site where you can buy something or just get information to send to the Lego company.

I am totally confused now!

It's just a website of cool Lego models people have built. Sorry for the tangent.

Lego's store is: http://shop.lego.com/Default.aspx

Lugnet has a set database with people wanting to sell, it's more complicated though: http://guide.lugnet.com/set/

The sets I know are out there are Tough Truck Rally (not made anymore) and Night Crusher, trying "truck", "4x4", and "crusher" should come up with more.

Rebel Wrecker! That's the name of it! I have that truck as well. Put it together years and years ago. I think I got it for a birthday or Christmas. I ended up building the alternate model of it, a Quad, one day when I was forced to spend a day in my room for punishment.

I used to hope that Legos made them when i was younger, but they never did make a lego set official to a monster truck or anything, so most of anyones stuff was custom built. However me and my brother were really big into Tuff Trucks so we have armies of tuff trucks made from legos. it was alot of fun. I still have some of them.

Don't hate, it was some of our younger ones's only output for creative engineering, and Legos were awesome stuff. Made so many MT's that are probably in pieces and sold somewhere else.

Legos are such great toys, I think. They really allow a kid to be creative and really get in there and use their imagination. I always said if I could only keep one of my toys growing up, it'd be my big tub of legos. In there I had monster trucks, race cars, space ships, pirate ships...whatever I could imagine was in that box.

Smasha
December 4th, 2007, 12:39 PM
i have made many monster trucks out of lego, such as grave digger, bigfoot #14, monster mutt, jurassic attack,Escalade with working lights, max D, some weird hummer I made up and a couple of dodge rams. Unfortunately I have no pics of the mutt, hummer, dodges, and escalade. But the rest I do they'll be on here soon.
By the way the bigfoot #14 has no body and only has the "transport tires" on this is because i simply couldn't find any big enough. The model is huge because its a scale model of the chassis and roll cage etc. Make sure you tell me what you think>

The first is my version of jurassic attack, its not that good cause i did'nt spand alot of time on the chassis just the body but anyway....

LEGO Racers Nitro Pulverizer - I got mine ages ago from my cousins for christmas. Since then I've modified it a bit, to make it lighter...

It acts just like Maximum Destruction in this modified form - due to it's lightness and bouncy tires. I have this fireguard that's shaped perfectly like a ramp, and I usually leap it off that - it jumps so much like Max D it's creepy.

I like that simple and yet effective and strong

I have taken some pics of my max d and will post them soon,

Also I have just made a chassis which is a completely different design to all my others. Its based on and looks alot like an rc clodbuster aftermarket chassis and it works really well. It has 4 wheel steering 1 spring per axle yes per axle so it it reacts like a real truck. If you turn it upside down the spings go to full compression like a real truck. Pics comng soon

After seeing that, makes me wish LEGO would have made a technix version of that, because apparently you managed to make something that advanced out of legos.

Smasha
December 9th, 2007, 10:05 AM
yeah a technic one would be great (hint hint LEGO) it would be really strong and able to take alot of abuse. But legos monster trucks always have a too short wheelbase or a high centre of gravity and also rubbish wheels.

lil update - also to bump it up 'cos it's a great thread :)

This, my friends, is the Pulverizer Superleggera Mk3 - major changes are a new, lightweight chassis and black painted wheels.

Tom Meents Jr. with the truck (and his new shades lol)
http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2182/1457060/17826408/329157116.jpg

Aaaaaand last but not least the brand new lightweight chassis:
http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2182/1457060/17826408/329157121.jpg

All of the parts on this truck are vital, save the rollcage, Tom Jr, and the bodyshell. Those small struts that connect the axle to the chassis prevent the top axle plate popping up and splitting the axle horizontally, as was a problem with the prototype of this chassis. They do the job well. Blu-Tack also reinforces the axle components so they're tough as nails :D

Another good thing is I don't have to rely on those solid black axles - those restricted width, and this one is wider and thus looks better. Also notice, in the side-on shot, the lightening holes in the chassis connecting brick. These are two 1x4 bricks side by side - the ones with the holes in them, so you can connect Technic pieces to them. I felt that was a pretty neat touch, and saving a tiny little bit of weight too.

BTW have you got those Max D pics Smasha? :D

That is sweet looking man, the suspension system looks awesome on it, you've definitely mastered Lego monster trucks.

I've actually never seen that one, but I used to have a different Mega Bloks monster truck building kit, that was of a large purple truck (it's now disassembled and has some pieces missing, though). I also used to have another Mega Bloks kit, that had a red ford monster truck, as well as a blue hot rod & a jump set.

I have got the large mega bloks truck in red hoping that I could use the tires but they have a strange axle mount that doesn't fit on a steering axle same with the puple one which I also had once..
they've both been destroyed now MWUHAHAHAHA

If I want to destroy a Lego MT I just freestyle the heck out of it, and bits break... then it breaks up in mid air on a hard jump :D

Awesome Max D btw :)
