That sounds correct, that's why it's a quality truck. Most other RedCat cars, though, don't have a good reputation, and because of that most people will assume the GP is not good.

XStatic Dallas, while I can appreciate your enthusiasm for the GP your doing exactly what your accusing other people of doing. To call a TXT a gear stripper because it doesn't hold up to dual battery packs and hot motors is unfair. Tamiya designed their trucks for a single 7.2V battery pack not for the weight of dual packs AND hot motors. But if set up right TXTs can handle the power of modern brushless systems. I race TXTs, quite successfully, against Clods and while my brushless truck doesn't run a stock trans, other racers do and without it stripping gears.
The GP has had it's problems and a lot of them have been addressed. But it's fair for GP owners to be a little frustrated when they were having problems with the stock truck. I was OK with it because I expected some problems with a new truck. I just wanted to know that Redcat wasn't going to be "fly by night" with this truck which was why I talked with Brett before I preordered my truck. Truth is I never would've preordered if CPE wasn't behind the GP.
As I've said, I love my GP but it has it's place in my collection. I still prefer my TXTs for the hard/fast stuff but I do like the potential of the GP in the moderate to low end of the power scale.

Hawn...to call the GP a gear stripper while having modded motors in it, is also unfair....
I'm not accusing anybody of anything, what I'm saying after reading EVERY post before replying...Is that some people are bashing the **** out of the GP because it BOTH had problems when it was was FIRST RELEASED, and beat the **** out of your Clods...
Now the the problems are fixed....The Tamiyas are over priced...and are NOT the most dependable things on the market themselves...don't tell me that I'm accusing people of anything....

Ok, sorry to say it but you're really getting annoying. Everything breaks when abused, simple fact, so stop your high horse and STFU already.
And here's something for you, the Clod was designed when MTs had leaf springs and weighed a ton, the GP was designed in an obviously more advanced time so of course it'll kill a Clod, it's like bringing a Top Fueler to a weekend bracket race.

tromoly that's all I'm saying myself. EVERYTHING breaks when under fire...and the GP beats the Clods because of the advanced design. EVERYTHING advances...Clod runners need to learn that...
If you telling ME to STFU...and thinking that it's ME who's saying opposite you need to read my posts...

XStatic, One of our Clodbuster Terminator chassis will run circles around a Ground Pounder, trust me.
We designed the Ground Pounder as an inexpensive alternative to someone needing to spend $1000+ for a modified Clodbuster. Yes it's more a more advanced design than the stock Clod, but it's also nearly 25 years newer. It has features on par with the current crop of modified Clodbuster race chassis though. Will it compete out of the box with one? In a word, no.
I've never stated the GP would signal the end of the Clod, nor would I ever want that to happen. I simply want to increase people's ability to enter a solid-axle monster truck race class, which ultimately filters up through to the faster classes of trucks with is where you'll find our modified Clodbuster chassis running.

I didn't sense that in your previous posts, now it makes sense and I apologize for asking you to zip it, I now see we're on the same page so again I sincerely apologize.
Brett, I certainly applaud your work on the GP, as most products advance over the years the box-stock RC MT has seemed to be stagnant, it is truly great to see someone to take the initiative to try and update it, my hat is off to you mate.

tromoly it's no big deal, I've taken people the wrong way my self.
Brett I never said anything about a modded GP beating down a modded Clod.
What I DID say was that those modded race trucks are NOT Clods...just the axles are.
I AM designing a full race truck using GP parts however....a tuber frame of bearfoot 11 (belly engine) with GP axles and tranny. Let's make it a bit more fair guys...
