    Dennis Anderson's Camel Camel Caravan

Just stumbled upon this while doing other research, as many of you know there are a ton of Camel-era-related documents out there as a result from legal proceedings in the tobacco industry throughout the years, but this is a new one that I found.

I must say, the idea is pretty cool. Seems to be a mini-monster type series that would have carried Dennis's name. Can anyone close to Dennis bring this up to him and see if he can elaborate on the whole idea?

I think you're misinterpreting "Ultra Lights". That's the type of cigarette:

I believe the idea here was to create a Camel-sponsored race truck, have Dennis run it (or somehow be associated with it), and then have a full display trailer/vehicle setup to promote the cigarettes and the sport to go with it, similar to what NASCAR teams have for their show cars.

I wonder if this was an intra-office proposal that never saw the light of day outside of RJR, so Dennis might not have ever seen it. But I find it interesting to note that, even in 1991, his name was as meaningful as his truck's, and the irony of RJR considering Dennis to push cigarettes when today he is one of the big draws for families to MJ.

Thanks Cale - not a smoker or a tobacco afficianato really, so I couldn't really tell by the text in the proposal. Still, the proposal is interesting. When you read through those documents from back then, it's a pleasant surprise to see how much RJR really cared about making monster truck racing a legitimate motorsport - SRO/PACE however seemed to want to maintain control of the product exclusively (surprise) and wanted to go towards more of a show/entertainment aspect.
