    aw yeah! this is what needed to happen. hopefully team owners won't get greedy with the engines and blow the smaller teams out of the water like they did between '92 and '94

    There has been next to no details released about the merger. As it stands, most all the classes Grand Am runs do not align with any FIA championships, something the ALMS has maintained. I'm reserving judgement until formal details are released.

    I think announcing the merger at this time is the smartest move. The FIA is dropping new rules for 2014 soon, so taking 2013 to make a blended set of rules for 2014 makes the most sense. I think in the end it helps the ALMS teams, ESPN/ABC's coverage is bad where as SPEED seems to be on the ball.
