Here's my thoughts:
Feld made a horrible mistake when they started that points series in 2015. You know the saying, "If isn't broke, don't fix it?." That year, is when they cut the racing down to 8 trucks (now it's 14), and began sending multiple versions of the same truck to the world finals. I love Grave Digger, but we only need one at the championships! I am not hating on any drivers out there, but too many versions of the same truck ruins the competition. Charlie Pauken should always drive the Mutt at the world finals because he won a championship in that vehicle 9 years ago. If I were Feld, I'd put Tyler Menniga in Blue Thunder, Morgan Kane in Alien Invasion, and Brandon Vinson in the Rottweiler instead of a Grave Digger at Orlando. The points series is a joke to me, and they were doing fine without it.
I watch Monster Jam on NBC sports and cannot stand the way they cover it. One hour isn't enough to get all the action that one sees at a Monster Jam show. You only see highlights from the racing and two wheel skills and selected freestyle action. Remember when Speed would split the show into two episodes? We saw everything. Just because they moved it to a new network doesn't mean they should do a half-butt job of covering it. And don't get me wrong, I love freestyle, but I love racing too. And for Pete's sake, Leslie Mears talks too much! I don't want to hear her running her mouth when I could see trucks in action.
Meanwhile, I think Feld is
Iying to us when it comes to why they're no longer using crush cars. How can they be hazardous? Last year, I went to an independent show in Conroe, Texas and there were crush cars on the track. I remember the freak accident in 2009, but has anyone been killed by debris since then? No! They are being lazy. A monster truck track without crush cars is like a Christmas tree without ornaments. I heard someone say the reason why obstacles like crush cars are no longer used is because of money. That's not true. Feld is just being lazy. If they can operate hundreds of shows around the world, then how can they be unable to pay the junkyard"s fees for borrowing crush cars?
