They gonna redesign them any time soon? These 1:64 scales have run their course, and they're just plan ugly.

What specifically do you mean? Are you talking about the deco on the trucks? Or the castings of the trucks themselves? Other?

Just the general design of the trucks, with the huge tires and plastic unrealistic chassis. Mainly the proportions is what irks me. As well a lot of the castings just being the 'closest thing' of a lot of the trucks. I love the 1:24 trucks they redid, and if they reflected that design at the 1:64 scale, with proper proportions for them, Hot Wheels could have all of my money.

That's really my only gripe about the 1:64's (the only ones I collect). The wheels are too big. They used to be perfect when they first came out in 2000. I remember everybody went crazy when they made the bigger goofy wheels. Then I kind of hot used to them, because I knew they weren't switching back but I still can't stand how a lot of the rims they make are chrome. There are only a few trucks who have ever used chrome rims. That's my only problem and it definitely doesn't stop me from being a big goof in Walmart and buying them lol I personally think this years list is the best one in a long time. I just wish I was younger so I didn't keep them in the box and could play with them haha

You've got to remember, Hot Wheels is in business to make money. Most of the people who buy the Monster Jam toys are parents of kids. The kids like the bigger tires and kids also respond more to shiny things (such as chrome).

Are the new retro trucks included in that last? Or will they have their own list?

Cool, thanks for replying back. I'm sure it would be very expensive to tool up all the trucks independently, not to mention pay for licensing rights to Chevy, Ford, etc. That's probably why they share several tools for many truck bodies. These trucks also have a lot of deco. That can't be cheap, either.

It's the material used/ lighting effect for the roll cages. Think of those edge glow party cups, toy light sabers, etc. That material is being used on the roll cages for some of the trucks with colored roll cages. It looks pretty cool...

Just do what they did with the 1:24 scales. I've got no complaints about them other than the wonky suspension thing they do. They're perfect to me, other than that.

Picked up our first 2012 line truck...30th Digger - black. We already have the color shifters 30th Digger so that covers all three colors with 2 trucks.

Spotted Heart Breaker, Bad News, Camo Thunder in Walmart as far as new designs...plus other re-releases.

The Anniversary poster that came with the truck looks great, I just wish it didn't have so many folds in it. Hung it in my son's room anyways, goes great with his lime green-painted walls.

I love how they're mixing up the inserts. Looks like Mix A has the posters, Mix B has GD 30th flags (my son loved the flags in 2010) and we're expecting trading cards later on. I guess we should probably expect some 30th Anniversary tattoos some time also.

Actually, kids dont care, so long as they get their monster truck toy.

I personally liked the original versions with the smaller tires. I liked Blue Thunder, Maniac, Sudden Impact and Big Dawg with the 97 style F150 body, Eradicator with a Chevy body, Bounty Hunter, Eradicator SUV and Scarlet Bandit with Van bodies, they had the right paintjobs but not bodies, but they looked great to me.

The smaller hubs probably don't exist anymore. Unused tooling in toy factories typically doesn't stick around for very long. They don't have the resources to properly store the unused tooling, and with the hot/ humid conditions there it quickly rusts the bare steel. When that happens it would be cheaper just to make new tooling (rather than repair it) so they scrap it. If you don't see it used within a couple of years, it's likely gone.
